Academic Program

Nuestras Raíces also has an Academic Program that provides the following services:

 

Annual Academic Conference

Nuestras Raíces organizes an annual academic conference where education experts from local universities such as UCLA, UCSD, Santa Monica College, etc. are invited to present important information about college entrance requirements. All Nuestras Raíces members are required to attend the conference. This year, our conference took place at UCLA on April 11, 2009.

 

College Application help

All Nuestras Raíces instructors are college students and college graduates. Each instructor is available to his/her students during the college application process. In addition, a series of workshops are organized during the Fall of each year in order to help our high school seniors with their college applications. Follow-up workshops are also available to ensure all members attend college after High School.

 

Financial Application help

All Nuestras Raíces instructors are college graduates. Each instructor is available to his/her students during the financial application process. In addition, help is available to all members as they apply for financial aid.

 

Summer Program

During the summer, Nuestras Raíces conducts many fieldtrips to local museums and other educational venues.

 

Scholarship Program

Every graduating senior who is a member of Nuestras Raíces is eligible to apply to our scholarship competition. The winners are announced during our Noche Mexicana Gala events.
